Group Print

A good test for my new Copal 4000 dye sublimation printer this week with the group photo for the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) Counter Terrorism Financing Workshop at The Westin on Collins Street, Melbourne.

About 60 delegates from around Asia and the Pacific are attending the three day conference being held at one of Melbourne's top hotels. The traditional group photo is presented to each delegate at the end of the conference.

The Copal is not a cheap machine! But its beauty is in the fact that it produces a great 8x12 inch print in a matter of seconds. I used to do prints of this size on my Epson 2100p, but at 6 minutes for a print of this size, I was just getting too old waiting for a large job to be done (let's see - 60 prints by 6 minutes per print equals six hours). With the Copal, the group photo printing job was knocked over in around 40 minutes. Of course, there was a bit more involved - adding the delegates' names and the various logos to the photo before printing and then putting each photo in a smart matted photo folder together with the certificate of attendance - but the Copal certainly helps to make sure that important jobs are delivered on time.

My other dye-sub printer, the Olmec OP600, is still churning out my most popular 6x9 inch image size.
